Smiles

There hasn't been a lot of excitement in the last week but there are always new pictures for everyone to enjoy. Here to the left, we've got grandpa and Kathy torturing Kara. If you'll notice, she's got some kind of pig feet mittens on her hands and guess what...she didn't like it. Who wants pigs on their hands, come on people! We can thank Aunt Carolyn for that one...it reminds me of the bunny suit from A Christmas Story.

We've also got Kara looking super cute right after her bath in her little Pooh hat that Aunt Rhonda and Uncle Bobbie gave her. How could you not love a cute girl like this!?

And last, we kind of caught a picture of Kara smiling. Kathy was trying to tickle her and she was smiling but it's always tough to catch it because it just pops up and then it's gone! She is definitely starting to smile and laugh, we'll just have to keep taking pictures till we get a good shot of it :-)

Keeping Updated

Hi All,

For those of you that subscribed to the blog to get emails when I made updates to it, the service that ran the subscription got bought by another company and the updates no longer work (apparently it's been broken for almost a month, but I just found this out). I've added a new Subscribe link on the left which will sign you up and let you know if there are any new changes to the blog....so even if you've signed up before, you'll need to do it again.

Thanks to everyone for checking out the blog and sending comments. I'm glad to know people are checking this out and enjoying it.

It's finally here

It's been a month since I've made the promise, but it's finally here....I finally made the birth video. It looks much better in HD, but this is the best I can do with YouTube. I hope you enjoy it.

Kara....are you alive???

The last night few nights, a miracle has occurred. I'm not sure why, I'm not sure how, but Kara has managed to sleep for 6+ hours straight during the night. She doesn't like to go to sleep till about 1am, but once she's down, she's been sleeping till 8am giving us 6 or 7 hours of sleep. The first night she did it, Kathy thought there was something wrong. She woke up at 5 am and checked on her because Kara was quiet and fast sleep. Kathy had to continue to check on her just to make sure she was breathing because she couldn't believe she was still asleep. We thought it would take a lot longer than this for her to start sleeping that long but we're not going to complain!

In the last few days, Kathy said that she's starting to smile some. I've seen a few smiles here and there but they're mainly when she's sleeping and it's not really a response to anything we're doing. It will be fun to see her smile and laugh in response to us though.

Other than the smiles, she's starting to hold herself up a lot more (she's been doing it since week 1, but now she's got a lot more control and can do it for longer) and she's starting to look around a lot. She will lock on to a light and as I walk around, she'll just keep starring at the light, moving her head around watching it in awe. It's pretty funny actually to see how amazed she seems just starring at a light. I wish I could be entertained so easily, I'd have a lot more money in the bank :-).

Sleep depra"what"

This weekend proved to be a long one. Saturday night was the first really rough night that Kara has had. She was awake nearly all night, finally falling to sleep at around 4am. Needless to say, we were pretty exhausted on Sunday. It's probably the first time I've slept till 11am since....well I don't know when.

To top things off, Kara stayed awake all day too, so we had to do a lot of holding and soothing. We felt bad for her though because there's not a lot we can do....it was gas/instestinal distress that was bothering here. You can put your hand on her stomach and just feel her guts gurgling...poor baby. She finally fell asleep at about 9pm last night and we pretty much immediately got into bed (sleep when she sleeps!!). She did OK through the night, waking up a few times, but mostly sleeping. It seems like things are a lot better today, now that we've had her on a constant regimine of Gripe Water which is suppose to sooth her stomach.

Things aren't too rough though. Kara did have her first play date last week with Ava Railey (apparently I don't know how to speell according to her Dad because I got it wrong with 'Eva' the first time I posted this). They had a great time....sleeping.
